Architect Mothers, Fathers, Parents Community’ - EVENT 1

The first event of Women in Architecture UK ‘Architect Mothers, Fathers, Parents Community’, was held last week at RIBA London.

We had the opportunity to discuss about Maternity and Paternity leave legal issues with Kevin Poulter, Partner at Freeths LLP , learn from Lisa Delaney's work as founder of the Parents Club at RIBA before the pandemic, Pippa Jacob Associate Partner at NJ Architects, shared her experience of becoming a new mother and returning to work, and Katherine J. presented the results of her research at Cardiff University about women leaving the profession. Long hours, overtime, gender pay gap and lack of family life-work balance appear as the main reasons to consider other working opportunities or becoming entrepreneurs outside the discipline

The challenges are still significant and Women in Architecture UK would like to make them visible and contribute to the discussion within the discipline from a constructive perspective.
