LFA 2024 Postcards from the Future: Reimagining a more equitable London
‘The time is now to change the way we do place.’ -Liane Hartley FRSA, of Considerate Urbanism
Yesterday evening, our annual London Festival of Architecture event took place, titled ‘Reimagining a more equitable London: Postcards from the future’. A huge thank you to our hosts The Building Society and organisers Tanisha Raffiuddin Annie Cosentino of Women in Architecture UK and Max Farrell of LDN Collective
The event kicked off with a conversation chaired by Tanisha Raffiuddin with Dr Olivia Stevenson and Siobhan Morris of UCL Grand Challenges introducing their findings from their report: Structurally Unsound, which investigates the effective approaches of tackling structural inequality in our lived cities. Thank you to Lawrence Barraclough You See Media for capturing these complexities of our relationship in the cities we live in, and how the decisions of policy impact us all, hitting those who are struggling the most, the hardest.
We were then joined by Liane Hartley FRSA and Natasha Reid FRSA from Considerate Urbanism and Mike Saunders of Commonplace who centre their work around the human lived experience, allowing people to have an influence on the places in which they live. We then got stuck into a workshop of experiential and emotional mapping, writing postcards and placing them on a beautiful map designed and printed by Urban Good.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in creating such an inspiring event. This is only just the beginning..
You can still be a part of our 2024 LFA celebrations by ‘having your own say’ on the digitised map of London, generously crafted by Commonplace. We look forward to seeing patterns of human lived experiences across London, helping us shape future policy, and reimagine a more equitable London.
