BLUE: Open Call for Short Films

Where do we walk? Where do we feel safe to go? Women in Architecture UK is seeking short and micro films that explore exterior spaces and gender.

Architecture and film have long enjoyed a close relationship; from the earliest days of cinema, film has been fascinated with the city and film in turn provides a way in which we can explore the inhabited experience of city spaces in a way that takes us beyond the traditional tools of architectural representation.

This year Women in Architecture are presenting a series of three events: Three Colours: Blue White Red. The first event is Blue, in June, deals with external spaces. We explore the creation and reaction of spaces and their intellectual, psychological and physical significance, particularly in relation to gender.

The films and talks will cover ‘people in the city’, ‘teenage girls, children, public spaces’, ‘communities, belonging and mental health’, ‘multi-sensory design’ and ‘trends in urban space appropriation’.

We are inviting submissions of short films - of up to 20 mins - and micro films.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm, June 7th.

Please submit your film here or email us at hello@wia.org.uk under the heading Film Submissions, FAO: Sarah Akigbogun.

Shortlisted films may be published on our website and across our social media.
